Two School Resource Officers are assigned to Westerville Central High School (Officer Graham) and Genoa Middle School (Officer Berner) as a result of a cooperative agreement between the Westerville City School District and Genoa Township.
In addition to their law enforcement duties, School Resource Officers provide mentoring to students, interaction with faculty and participation in the classroom as guest speakers. The addition of the School Resource Officers provides a safe school environment and helps to build a positive relationship between students and the police.
Officers also regularly visit the Elementary Schools. The officers are asked to spend at least 1 hour a week at their assigned schools. Fouse Elemetnary School (Officer Speakman) , Alcott ELemetnary School (Officer Hutchinson), Walnut Creek Elementary School (Officer Miller), and Genoa Christian Academy (Officer Marlin). The officers are asked to spend at least one hour a week at their assigned schools.
School zones within the Township are carefully enforced during the following hours:
- Westerville Central High School: 7:00 a.m. - 8:05 a.m
- Genoa Middle School: 7:35a.m. - 8:05 a.m.
- Fouse, Alcott and Walnut Creek Elementary Schools: 8:35 a.m.-9:05 a.m., 11:30 a.m. - 12:05 p.m.
