Fishing is a welcomed activity at Center Green Park as well as at Hilmar Park where there is a wheelchair-accessible fishing platform. Both ponds have been stocked in the past. No license is required to fish at these two locations.
Annually, Genoa Township hosts a Fishing Day in September at Hilmar Park.
Hoover Reservoir and Alum Creek State Park also offer great fishing opportunities within or nearby the Township. Be advised that state-issued fishing permits are required when fishing in these two locations.

Ice Fishing and Ice Skating

These activities are prohibited on Township property. The possibility of falling through the ice into the freezing water is too great a risk for the Township to allow. Each winter, police respond to calls made out of concern for individuals seen on frozen bodies of water. The Fire Department trains for ice rescue and maintains a specialized floating “sled”, in order to reach victims.
Despite its inherent dangers, on-ice recreation is available nearby at Alum Creek State Park, but before venturing out, review the state’s guidelines for use and know that ice is never 100% safe.

Wildlife Viewing

Parks not only provide space for recreation and relaxation, but they are also important to preserving natural areas for wildlife habitat, stormwater control, and more.
Examples of Natural Resource Management:
- Genoa Township Parks have systematically been converting mowed grass lawns to native Ohio prairie flower areas. Residents love the vibrant colors they add to the landscape while increasing habitat for pollinator species and reducing emissions to the air as a result of the no-mow nature of these designated areas.
- A population of Purple Martins is monitored as part of an academic study at Worthington Road Park. Various other birdhouses can be found throughout Township Parks.
