Smoke Alarm Battery Installation & Gas Line Inspection

Smoke & CO2 Alarms
The Genoa Township Fire Department wants all homes to have working fire alarms installed and also wants to protect residents from injuries caused by falls.  For these reasons, the Fire Department will assist with fire and CO2 alarm battery replacement upon request.

Please call 614-568-2040 to request service.

According to the National Fire Protection Association:

  • Three out of five home fire deaths result from fires in properties without working smoke alarms
  • More than one-third (38 percent) of home fire deaths result from fires in which no smoke alarms are present.
  • The risk of dying in a home fire is cut in half in homes with working smoke alarms.

Gas Line Inspection
More than 800 million feet of CSST gas piping in approximately six million homes has been installed in the U.S. since 1990. CSST is a flexible, stainless steel pipe used to supply natural gas and propane in residential, commercial and industrial structures. Coated with a yellow, or in some cases, a black exterior plastic coating, CSST is usually routed beneath, through and alongside floor joists in your basement, inside interior wall cavities and on top of ceiling joists in attic spaces. This tubing is known to cause fires if not grounded properly.

Genoa Township Fire Department offers a free CSST inspection to Township residents. Schedule an evaluation by calling 614-568-2040.
