The purpose of Zoning is to guide and regulate the planning, subdividing, and development of land within the township in order to promote and protect the health, safety, morals, and general welfare of the present and future residents. Zoning does not enforce private deed restrictions or restrict or regulate land ownership.
Before beginning any work to their property such as additions, accessory buildings, decks, pools, or fences residents must obtain a zoning permit. The Genoa Township Zoning Department has a full-time staff available Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. to answer your zoning questions. Feel free to stop by or call our office at 614-899-0725.
