Genoa Township Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA)
The Township Trustees appoint five (5) residents of the Township to the Board of Zoning Appeals and two (2) alternates. The term of one sitting member expires every year. Each member serves until their successor is appointed and qualified. The Board of Zoning Appeals meetings are open to the public. The Board of Zoning Appeals maintain the minutes of their proceedings which are on public record and filed in the zoning office.
The Board of Zoning Appeals has the following specific responsibilities:
a) Where the applicant has provided sufficient evidence to warrant the granting of a Variance, to authorize such Variances from the terms of this Resolution in accordance with, Article XI.
b) To grant Conditional Use Permits as specified in the Zoning Resolution, Article XI and such additional safeguards as will uphold the intent of the Resolution.
c) To hear and decide Appeals in accordance with the Zoning Resolution, Article XI, Section 1105, where it is alleged there is an error in any order, requirement, decision, or determination made by the Zoning Inspector.
d) To determine if uses not specifically mentioned in this Resolution are similar to uses permitted within a district in accordance with Section 113.
e) To determine the exact location of any district boundary in accordance with Section 303 if there is uncertainty as to the exact location involved.
