K-9 Unit

Rocky has served Genoa Middle School alongside School Resource Officer Berner as a therapy K9 beginning in 2021. K9 Maverick began training in November 2022 to prepare to serve students at Westerville Central High School alongside Officer Graham. 

The K9 program is funded almost entirely by donations. 

When on break from regular duty, the officers and their K9s can be found meeting and greeting residents at community events. 
Officer SigmanK9 officer Ben
Rocky and Maverick follow retired K9 Ben in service to Genoa Township. Ben is living out his retirement with handler and Officer Mike Sigman. 

Ben began working in the Township in 2016 after the Department's German Shepard, Gandalf retired. Ben is a specially trained Belgian Malinois for narcotics detection, tracking/searching, and criminal apprehension.
