Board of Zoning Appeals

Board of Zoning Appeals
Applications for variances, administrative appeals, and conditional uses are made to, reviewed by, and decided by, the Genoa Township Board of Zoning Appeals. Development and Zoning staff do not have the ability to grant relief to any requirement of the Zoning Resolution or Final Development Plan. The Development and Zoning office is also prohibited from provding legal advice on such matters.

The Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA) is responsible for hearing and making final quasi-judicial decisions on applications for: Variances, Conditional Uses, and Administrative Appeals. The BZA consists of five regular members and two alternate members appointed by the Township Trustees. All members are citizens of the Township.

The BZA holds regular public meetings on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 7:00pm to review and decide submitted applications. These hearings are conducted at the Township Hall, located at 5111 South Old 3C Highway. The BZA may approve, approve with conditions, deny, continue, or table applications as necessary.

If you are a Township resident and are interested in serving on the Board of Zoning Appeals, please submit a completed application to the Township Administrator.
